Dementia in Latin America and the Caribbean: The public health challenge
The World Dementia Council is hosting a series of dialogues on the dementia landscape in Latin America and the Caribbean. The dialogue series is chaired by Professor Ricardo Allegri, Director of the Memory and Ageing Center at the Neurological Research Institute Fleni in Buenos Aires Professor Paulo Caramelli, Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais.

WDC Project: Dementia in Latin America and the Caribbean
The World Dementia Council is organizing a series of high-level roundtables and a summit to bring together leading experts from academia, industry, care, and advocacy to discuss the public policy challenge and develop recommendations. Following the high level summit in spring 2025, a report bringing together the discussions and recommendations will be published.
Dementia in Latin America and the Caribbean: WDC virtual dialogue
The World Dementia Council held a high-level virtual roundtable focused on brain health and social determinants in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is one of three virtual roundtable focused on dementia public policy in Latin America and the Caribbean ahead of a high-level summit, hosted by the World Dementia Council in South America in May 2025.
The roundtable discussions will help shape a policy paper that will be presented at a WDC Satellite Summit in Lima, Peru on 13 May 2025.
This high level dialogue brought together leading researchers, industry, policymakers and advocates to discuss current challenges and explore collaborative opportunities within the region.
