The World Dementia Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Husseini Manji as a member of the Council. The annual full council meeting was held in July alongside AAIC and was, for the first time, a virtual meeting.

Dr Manji is currently the Global Head at Johnson and Johnson’s Science for Minds and is the immediate past Therapeutic Head for Neuroscience at Janssen Research & Development (one of the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical companies). He has collaborated extensively with the WDC helping to organize summit meetings in London and Tokyo. 

Husseini said “I am truly humbled to have been appointed as a council member of the World Dementia Council. To be a part of a community comprised of industry leaders, governments, researchers and healthcare systems that share the same overall goal of advancing research and care for those impacted by dementia, is both an honour and a privilege and I look forward to this new opportunity.”

WDC chair Harry Johns welcomed Husseini, saying "It is a pleasure to welcome Dr Manji to the Council, his distinct experience in the public, private and academic sectors will contribute greatly to our collective efforts to lead global change for all who face dementia."

The World Dementia Council has 24 members working across six continents, who are global leaders drawn from across research, academia, industry and civil society. They are chosen for their unique insights, global experience, and expertise. We welcome Husseini and look forward to working with him to drive the WDC's international leadership on dementia. Whilst council members normally serve a term of three years, it was also agreed that due to Covid-19, there would be a one-year extension to the terms of members that were due to expire this year.
