The Joint Statement calls on the European Commission and EU-Member states to promote and support international co-operation in dementia research; to improve co-ordination of research programmes; to promote and support best practices in dementia care; and to stimulate and promote the development of a society that supports and accepts people with dementia as worthy members of society.
WDC's Chair, Yves Joanette says: "These European calls are in perfect alignment with what WDC is doing on a global scale through our own programme of activity, including the work of our Global Teams, which aim to expand globally some of the European initiatives referred to in the statement.
"Through these global actions, we will deliver on our mission to drive forward progress in finding cures or disease-modifying therapies for dementia by 2025 and to stimulate innovation and identify and pursue priority opportunities for global collaboration against the disease."
