Welcoming the communique issued by the G7 Health Ministers’ meeting in Kobe earlier this week, Dr Yves Joanette, Chair of the World Dementia Council, said:
“I am delighted that the G7 Health Ministers have chosen to reaffirm their commitment to taking action to tackle dementia, and have recognised the role of the World Dementia Council in driving forward a global approach to meeting the challenges of dementia.
“The World Dementia Council, in bringing together world leading experts from across the spheres of research, industry, advocacy and care, alongside people with dementia and carers, is uniquely placed to work alongside Governments, bodies like the World Health Organization and others, to drive forward the effort to find new treatments, to enable public health interventions to reduce risk, and to improve care for those living with dementia.
“Dementia is a truly global challenge, which needs global solutions. We look forward to continuing to work with the G7 Health Ministers, as we strive to find these solutions together.”
