WDC Chair, Yves Joanette and WDC Member and Trustee, George Vradenburg were both active participants in this year’s highly successful Dementia Forum X, in Stockholm, Sweden on 18th May 2017. Yves Joanette took part in a group discussion and Q&A session called Big Picture Dialogue and George Vradenburg was one of the speakers in a moderator led series of Inspirational Conversations.
Dementia Forum X is a biannual event that started in 2015. This year, the 2nd Dementia Forum X took place at the Royal Palace of Stockholm under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain and many other distinguished participants. It was organised by Forum for Elderly Care in collaboration with Swedish Care International, Karolinska Institutett, Swedish Dementia Centre, Stiftelsen Silviahemmet and Forte and other selected partners.
Both Yves Joanette and George Vradenburg took the opportunity that this prestigious event provided to raise awareness of the work of the World Dementia Council and to trail the publication of WDC’s planned Global Care Statement later this month.
Yves Joanette also had the opportunity to set out WDC’s vision for a truly global collaborative approach to dementia and to engage the discussion with the organisers about the possibility of future collaboration with the World Dementia Council.
In Yves Joanette’s words, “The Dementia Forum X was a very fruitful and constructive meeting and one where WDC was frequently referred to as one of the global leader on dementia.”
