WDC Announces Dr. Joanne Pike as Incoming Chair

The World Dementia Council (WDC) is pleased to announce Joanne Pike, DrPH, will become the next chair of the WDC, effective March 2025. Dr. Pike, the president and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association, has served as the vice chair of the WDC since September 2023.

“I am honored to take on this new role as WDC Chair at a time of historic importance for the Alzheimer’s and dementia community,” said Pike. “I look forward to leading the WDC’s work ensuring governments, nonprofits and the private sector continue to address the global dementia public health crisis. In this new era of treatments, this work is essential to ensuring global health inequities in Alzheimer’s disease do not deepen further.”

WDC’s current chair, Professor Philip Scheltens, has served as chair since 2021. In March he will stand down as chair and continue on as a WDC trustee.

“I’m immensely proud of the impact WDC has made since its founding in 2013 and will continue to do under Dr. Pike’s stewardship,” said Professor Scheltens. “I look forward to continuing in my role as WDC trustee as together we work to improve the global response to the dementia crisis.”
