Dr Ana Luisa Sosa, National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Mexico, Dr Daisy Acosta, Associate Professor at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena, Dominican Republic, and Dr David Aguillon, University of Antioquia, Colombia are giving opening presentations at this dialogue.

The World Dementia Council is leading a project on dementia in Latin America and the Caribbean and the challenges and opportunities presented by disease modifying treatments. Beginning with a series of virtual high-level roundtables and followed by an in-person WDC Satellite Summit 12 May 2025 in Lima, Peru this initiative will develop practical solutions, strength partnerships and advance advocacy.

Dementia is one of the most urgent public health challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean. By 2030, the number of people living with dementia is set to more than triple, placing immense pressure on health care systems, economies and families.
The World Dementia Council (WDC) is leading a project with a series of high-level virtual roundtables in late 2024 and early 2025, tackling critical policy issues. These discussions will lay the foundation for the WDC Satellite Summit, in partnership with Alzheimer’s Association, 13 May 2025 in Lima, Peru. Chaired by Professors Ricardo Allegri and Paulo Caramelli, this initiative is designed to develop practical solutions, strength partnerships and advance advocacy.
